Abstract
THE PRESCRIPTION OF CORTICOSTEROID THERAPY BY GENERAL PRACTITIONERS IN THE CITY OF MARRAKECH
Dr. Sbai Ali* and Professor Belkhou Ahlam
ABSTRACT
Glucocorticoids, indispensable drugs due to their anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive action, have
revolutionized the prognosis of numerous diseases since their discovery in 1935. Despite their effectiveness, their
use is associated with clinical and biological side effects, such as osteoporosis, infections, diabetes, hypertension,
and others, which can compromise patients' prognosis. Approximately 1% of the population in the United Kingdom
is treated with corticosteroids at any given time. Complications often lead to poor patient compliance. While the
prevention of osteoporosis, particularly through vitamin and calcium supplementation and bisphosphonates,[1] is
subject to clear recommendations, other adjuvant measures are not consensual.
